Close to launch

Just prepared my final list of things to do before we can launch.  Not a lot of things to do but more tha just a couple hours.

Plan on getting the bottom painted before Monday, power wash the bilge and a couple smaller projects.  Would like to be in the water by next Wednesday if possible

Have a boat inspection on May 25th and then Memorial weekend.

Days have warmed up recently and really enjoy the heat.

Pontoon and dock go in the water Saturday.  Hope to get a chance to wet a line on Lake Leelanau

Fishing reports have been good.  Lake trout and a few coho have been caught around Leland.  I will have more reports in later blogs.

Yes we have been gone

I know I have been a little bit lazy in getting some posts on this blog.

It has been a busy last few weeks with a lot of things going on.

Back to the boat TuesdayTthursday have been happening almost every week.  Dave and I are working hard to get the boat ready for launch sometime the middle of the month

Aaron has taken a job with Precision Plumbing and will be back a limited time this summer.  Fortunately for me, he has a younger brother that is interested in crewing for me.  His name is Drew and he has been out several times in the past couple years.

There have been a couple small boats out fishing near shore.  One of the boats caught a couple coho and some brown trout.

 

I will try and be more regular with my posts.

There are a few salmon

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are catching a few salmon on every am trip.  Not a lot but enought that we have been targeting them.

 

I am hoping that this fishing will get better as we move along this month

 

Maybe it is time to book that trip

First big salmon in Leland

IMG_0393     No Aaron did not catch this fish.  It is the first big salmon caught on a charter boat in Leland this season.  Maybe more of these great fish will be coming to our waters.

 

Lake trout continue to be the big catch.   We are still getting limits of trout on most trips.

Fishing from Leland continues to be very strong.  Most boats are getting limits of Lake trout on the half day trips.

 

We have heard reports from Wisconsin that the salmon are on that shore and active.  Let’s hope those fish find a way to northern Michigan.
